Who's planning a new kitchen in 2021 ?

... following from the massively helpful 2020 thread. I'm planning a brand new extension with kitchen and utility. Deciding between HKOC and Units Online. HKOC took 2 days to provide a quote, still waiting for Units Online after 2 weeks and numerous calls..

We'll be starting a renovation and side extension this year. It's about to go to tender.

I cannot wait for the kitchen. I'm hoping to get handmade by Christchurch 🤞🤞🤞

Order about 4 months before you need the kitchen as they have a long lead time. Mine is coming in April - extension started but they’ve had to pause this week because of the cold weather.

I’m planning a new kitchen to start in the next couple of months. Just in the middle of having a conservatory fitted to move the dining room into, and then the kitchen rip out can start. Not doing anything as grand as some of you as I haven’t got a huge budget, but I’m really excited.

I’ve found a local guy who hand makes solid pine kitchens and will also paint in a F&B colour and it’s working out about the same price as an IKEA one I priced up. I tipped a couple of units out before Christmas to make room for a freestanding larder unit which I fell in love with - it’s painted in Purbeck Stone, so I’m currently trying to decide on which cream/off-white colour would go well with this.

@Qc16 that's really helpful, thank you! Thankfully our old kitchen will remain until the last minute so we can manage a long wait.
Once we've got our building reg drawings I can sort out kitchen planning. How did you plan your layout? Did you employ someone?

Baxdream · 10/02/2021 10:43

Just to add our new kitchen is going into a completely different room and our old kitchen will become a utility/gym area. It should make this build a lot easier than our last one!

@Baxdream - we are doing more or less the same - new kitchen extension going up and then the old kitchen will be split and turned into an en-suite to the next door bedroom and a utility room.

We used units online and their partner company mayflower stone. Here’s a snap.

@curiouscat1987 May I ask where you got your worktop samples from? I am renovating a house and looking at those worktops - also have crittal type doors going in x

Some gorgeous kitchens here!

They were all from quartz worktop suppliers local to me - i literally googled quartz worktops and collated a spreadsheet. If youre local to se i can give you tge details for the sample in the left of the picture?

Actually...have you chosen your doors yet? Where did you get them from as we need to choose ours shortly!

I’m planning a new kitchen in an extension (well, mainly knocking down and rebuilding old wobbly bits and conservatory). Not expecting to start until about this time next year at the earliest given the time planning and tender process will take, but I do need to decide where the openings/windows etc will be so need to have a view on my layout ideally. Following this thread and the extension one with interest - I have a trusted project manager I’ve worked with before on a small renovation, but when it comes to kitchens I’m really unexcited by units! I just don’t find them appealing, even the most expensive ones. I have a Victorian house but I don’t really like the traditional shaker styles much (well I don’t hate them but it’s a lot of money to spend on something I find blah) OR the sleek modern ones. I guess I’ve got a year to identify what I like!

Me. But I’m doing it myself. It’s a big old project and I’m still at early planning stages. Interested to see what others are doing though. (And I’ve done this before).
