Competitive neighbours

This has been ongoing for a while but each time our neighbour on one side of us got wind or seen a delivery van/workman at our house they have tended to copy exactly what we have had done to our home within a matter of days. Several years ago We excavated the front garden to put in a driveway and within a week our next door neighbour was doing the exact same. Earlier this year we put in plans for a kitchen extension and now the neighbours on the other side of us are getting are new kitchen put in and our the other next neighbours immediately got the painters and decorators in and started renovating as soon as they were notified. They also yelled at us while in our garden saying that they hope we would move and we were stupid to do an extension. I know I shouldn't let this bother me as they can do what they like to their property, but I do find it all a bit bitchy. Any thoughts on their behaviour? Both neighbours are older than us if that makes any difference.

It's not even the same neighbour though is it? It's three different houses you're talking about.
You are definitely overreacting.
QED your last post. Confused

This is weird. People don’t get a drive a week later to copy you. Neighbours tend to make the same sorts of improvements to their homes because their houses tend to be similar. It would never even occur to me to think it was copying.

@Babybrain26

Ok so I'm the bad neighbour. Discussion over.
I don’t know if youre a bad neighbour or not. Though the yelling is unacceptable from the one, but your neighbours are not bad neighbours simply because they do home improvements or don’t wait sufficient time after you’ve done yours.

To think your neighbours are only spending tens of thousands on home improvements to copy you. And are somehow able to magic up tradesman within a couple of weeks is kinda odd.

I’d be more focused on why you’re disliked. They are allowed to improve their homes. Whenever they wish. They are just doing what is fairly normal for home owners and the timelines indicate these improvements were booked well before yours even started.

It’s also better to stop focusing on what they are doing to their homes . It’s not a competition op.

You could have fun with this you know? Speak to a few local traders who need some work tell them to park in your drive for a few hours they will get a call to do the neighbours house too

Ignore them. Silence is a very powerful weapon. One set of my ex neighbours were fixated on getting my attention and how much I earned. It was bizarre. I just ignored them.
