World’s smallest bathroom - layout help

I have wracked my brain and been searching for months but can’t find a solution for our tiny bathroom - or shower room.

I’ve attached the floor plan from the estate agents but it’s mostly wrong but gives an idea of the odd shape. The purple L is where the loo is (with the window directly above), the B is the basin and the S is the shower. The door is actually on the angled wall.

There is zero scope for moving any walls. But there must be a better layout. It’s so cramped, I think I must be missing something really obvious.

Has anyone contended with anything similar?

Apologies if I missed it, why can't the door open outwards? Ideal standard do a space saving range called "concept Space" that might make the most of your tiny room.
You only need one clear square of floor in the middle as long as each item faces it.

We had an even tinier bathroom once. It had the simplest solution. The door opened outward into the room rather than into the bathroom! You can arrange everything however you like Smile

@tldr I’m glad you are as I’ve had more replies and ideas than I could have wished for! I’ve been measuring up and the shower, basic and loo won’t fit all on one wall. Unless we look into the really small basins which are more for cloakrooms. I really don’t like the basin/toilet combo.

@FakeFlamingo I’ve remeasured the door and am almost certain it can open outwards so this is a definite change. Only issue is the corner cut off so it’s not quite as easy but will make a huge difference.

@NotMeNoNo that photo is absolutely perfect! Thankfully we can get away with a normal sized loo and doesn’t have to be a corner one. But the rest is exactly how I think we should have it. Thanks for posting it. Will investigate the options.

Good stuff. The main thing with bathrooms to avoid a cramped feeling is not where the item fits but the "standing space" in front, but those spaces can overlap.

We had a tiny under the stairs toilet. We used a sink/toilet combo, it was slightly more pricy than some of them, but it was the smallest . Also it recycles the sink water into the toilet cistern

two options:

  1. Change door to open outwards. Move sink to either opposite loo, or next to loo. Change shower to be full width of room (ie using space of both current shower and curren sink).

  2. Change door to be where it is on the agent plan, and change it to a pocket door. Move sink to either opposite loo on angled wall, or next to loo. Then have shower full width of room as above.

The layout I'd suggested was based on my almost identically sized/shaped bathroom in student halls (though no window in there). It worked really well though and never felt cramped.

I'd definitely say no to an open wetroom- they look nice, but our previous owners put one in our downstairs bathroom and keeping the floor dry when people are showering is a nightmare. Attempting to use a bathmat to help keep the rest of the room dry just means the mat ends up totally sopping. Necuad its downstairs itnthen ends uo really muddy too as people go in wearing shoes. I'm desperate to change it for a walk in thing with a tray and glass screens to contain the water- in the interim it's not used regularly because of the mess- I'm just grateful we have a second bathroom!

Just to add my support for a wetroom with underfloor heating!

We had exactly this problem in our last flat - a very tiny bathroom (about 180 x 180 with a corner out of it), we put in a wetroom with shower curtain instead of a glass shower door to protect the floor (this sounds horrible but looked good with a nice curtain!) and used a rubber squeegy thing on a long pole from Muji to remove the excess water from the floor once we had finished.

I couldn't cope with the door facing the kitchen. Could you move it to open into the hall?
I'd be tempted to move the kitchen door to the angled corner to allow that if not possible otherwise.
