How do I get rid of it? Everything seems to be coated in it no matter how many times I clean it.

all you can do is keep cleaning it will disapear eventually mine did took about two weeks of wet wiping down every day

Mamette · 09/12/2020 14:22

It’s in the air for ages so even when you wipe it away it keeps settling on surfaces. Eventually it goes away.

IndieRo · 09/12/2020 14:32

Thanks, I will just keep wiping so Wink

Keep wiping (for about a month, sorry!). It takes an age to settle!

Loofah01 · 09/12/2020 16:40

You keep on cleaning lol It lasts forever!!

PigletJohn · 09/12/2020 16:52

it will be falling off the tops of doors, window frames, lampshades etc.

If you'd asked sooner I would have recommended you buy a builders canister vac, as the gritty dust may damage your domestic vac. It is particularly bad for electronic items such as TVs and computers.

Damp sponge and wet mop will actually remove it. Cleaning dry will just shift it around.

uberraschtezwiebel · 09/12/2020 17:07

Yes damp mop and dust as often as you can , as previously mentioned, it takes several months to go depending on what was done and how big an area , anything involving sanded down paint / plaster / sawdust hands around but does eventually go

This is when we got cleaners in to do a deep clean. Plater dust everywhere.

IndieRo · 11/12/2020 07:18

Thanks Everyone, we pulled out a bathroom, including a roth iron (spelling) bath. Pulled up flooring in four rooms, put up internal installation, took doors down, totally knocked out an opening for another door and re plastered everywhere so it's a fair amount. We are know in the process of laying floors and painting. Doors, skirting boards going on tomorrow. @JanetPudding, was it worth getting cleaners in? There is plaster on the stairs but getting new carpet and we put down new flooring.

@IndieRo for us, absolutely. We had a baby and a toddler and they came in one morning and it was all clean when they left.

IndieRo · 11/12/2020 09:10

@JanetPudding going to see if I can get a cleaning company in.

gosh for major stuff like that yes definitely get a cleaning company in we only replastered manky walls in the kitchen because they fell apart when we removed the units and mine felt gritty for a couple of weeks

IndieRo · 11/12/2020 14:24

All the demolition work is done, laying floors and getting new doors tomorrow. I still have the carpet on the stairs down, it's manky. I'm getting new carpet the 18thDec. Should I take carpet up now or wait?

If you haven’t put flooring down yet, mopping with a mix of water and pva glue should do the trick.
