Boiler in the loft?

I'm getting my 30 year old boiler replaced. The gas plumber has suggested moving it from the kitchen to the loft. Has anyone else done this?
The loft is boarded but no lighting. Its not going to be a combi boiler.

Just wondering if it will be too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. Is this a problem?

It's horrible for service/ repair. Some will refuse to work on boilers located in the loft. Is the hot water tank remaining in the airing cupboard?

I have one in the eaves of a chalet bungalow, it was here when I moved in and been there for at least eight years now. Everything seems OK, just a bit of a nuisance if you have to reset the boiler.

The loft is insulated (between the rafters) so doesn't get too hot or too cold.

You will need power to the boiler anyway so a fused spur could run off there for a light (I think ).

I had mine moved out of the loft when it was replaced because yes, it’s nightmare if you need to repressurise it or just check it for any reason, and not all engineers will work in the loft - which assuming annual service, is going to be an issue.

Our was put in the loft by BG, who replaced the whole system 3 years ago. When the BG service engineer came a couple of weeks ago, he moaned! He soon shut up when we told him who put it there!
It’s wirelessly linked to BG who know when it needs attention, but don’t ask me I’m not that technical!

I'm swaying towards leaving it in the kitchen. Seems less hassle.

We moved ours to the loft as it freed up a space in a tiny kitchen, it is a bit of a ballache going up to change it but it's not often and is only a 2 minute job, we have it serviced too and the engineer didn't even mention anything about it being in the loft.

Normal practice to locate there now it seems. Mine went into the loft during the reno and pretty much fine. I pop up to check periodically. Easy acess and it has saved some space downstairs

We thought about this but our gas engineer said many engineers won't touch it if it's in the loft due for their own safety as need to climb ladders and risk falling through the ceiling etc. Also I was worried it could leak water or fumes or something into my son's bedroom which would have been directly below. So we kept it in the kitchen

Mine is in the loft and never had any problems. The loft does need to have lighting, a fixed ladder and be boarded.

We moved into our house last year and our boiler is in the loft. The people before us moved it up there from the kitchen a few years before. I was a bit concerned about it at first but it's actually been fine. We just had out annual check the other day and no problems with access for the engineer. He said it's getting more common now to have them up there.
