Short- term rental between selling and buying

We've just put our house on the market and will buy in May/ June time.

Getting stressed about finding rental for 6 months :(

Has anyone done this ? Any advise ?

Also do the credit checks they do affect credit rating ? I don't want this to affect our mortgage application down the line

Thank you

If you’ve just put your house on the market it could easily be May/June before a sale completes. So then you wouldn’t need a rental

Air bnb

Finding a rental for 6 months won't be a problem. Any less than that and it would be.

We had to find a rental for 6 months whilst work was being carried out in our own house. We did look at Airbnb but it would have cost around £2.5k per month. We found a newly built house to rent for £1200 pm which allowed our dog too (an awful lot don't allow pets.)
We were credit checked, had no references as we've never rented before, and we paid the 6 months rent upfront.
We moved back home after 4 months, the rental was quickly let again and we've just had a refund for 5 weeks rent - a very nice surprise just before Christmas!

I'd be surprised if you're sold a d all checks etc done and you move before May/JUNE plus you could suggest a move date of then once buyers are in place and checks completed

I agree with @ireallyamthewalrus. It may take that time to sell. However, it’s also true that, depending on what you want, it may take some considerable time to buy, too. We had an offer accepted last December when moving countries, and rented from people we knew at first — had to pull out of purchase in March just before exchange, and while we kept looking, we only eventually ended up completing and moving into a different house in late October.

Lockdown complicated things, and we had to move rentals more than once, but we were mostly in Airbnbs, plus one stint in (expensive) hotel apartments.

We got a long term deal from a holiday rentals firm as it was low season over winter. Made things simple- no bills etc to change. We did get a bit nervy when we were putting offers in, in case we ended up in high season, but it did work out well for us. Very little hasslw.
