Herringbone floor and herringbone tiles? Too much?

Our kitchen splashback is white flat gloss tiles laid herringbone. We quite want a herringbone laid oak floor. Would we have to swap to straight tiles to get away with this? I can't find any examples online with herringbone tiles and floor, I'm guessing the reason for that is it looks crap? Anyone got it and like it/willing to post a photo?

Both are nice but I agree not together, Pick one or the other imo. Remember what is on trend and classy now could be next decade's avocado. Having said that your wall tiles are white so if you go with a natural wood colour for the floor you could get away with it.

I don't like herringbone - gives me a headache whether floor or tiles! But do one: floor or tiles, not both.

Ah I love it! But yes can't see us getting away with both. I can't pick which I prefer!

I think you could get away with it as the wall tiles are white gloss. It might actually look better than straight on tiles.

Hmm possibly. I can't find a single example of that so it makes me wonder if there's a reason for that.

I wouldn't want both together, I think it would really jar & hard on the eye. I'd stick with the herringbone tiles & go for a normal floor. I like it, but lots of people don't like herringbone & it is very 'of the moment', easier/cheaper to swap out a tile than a floor.

Yes I think you only do herringbone once. I have it on the floor and did straight tiles in the kitchen. If you are thinking long term I would do the wall tiles herringbone and not the floor, much easier (and cheaper) to change if you change your mind.

I've seen it on both splashback and flooring in kitchens and it looked fine. Personally I wouldn't do both but if you really want a herringbone floor and already have the tiles I would just go for it.

I'm not usually fond of white metro style tiles, but I don't mind them so much in a herringbone pattern (less like a public building to me). While I think herringbone kitchen tiles would look nice with regular floorboards, I suspect they might look too much when combined with the same pattern on the floor, sorry OP.
