Has anyone got an optimist/flame electric fire?

The fires that look like they are real but are electric!

Would love to know if anyone has a good one?

No but I was in a diy store where they had some on the other day and they weren't giving out much heat at all. Think they're very expensive decorations rather than effective heaters. You could achieve similar with some nice lanterns/candles and save yourself several hundred quid.

We had one in our last house where a real fire wasn’t an option. We’d moved from a house with a wood-burner and I really missed it. We found it gave out plenty of heat. I imagine the demonstration models in a DIY store would be set to ‘flame only’ - there wouldn’t be much point having them on the heat setting in that environment. I always preferred it when we used the flame only effect rather than heat as well - they are convection heaters so on the heat setting they do make that annoying whirring noise. We have a wood burner again now but I’d definitely have another Opti-myst if I couldn’t have a stove.

I have an opti myst. Really like it. Gives out plenty of heat

I do, i saved £200 by getting mine from ebay. There is a tiny chip that was caused by wrapping it too tightly so it was reduced. Has no effect on the fire working.
I use mine almost everyday just for the flame effect as its so cosy, occasionally ive used the heater for a quick boost while the central heating kicks in but it is noisy so don't keep it on for long.
I definitely would recommend one x

Ah, I'd like a good heat output!

Which one do you have? If you don't mind me asking?

Does it feel like it's a real fire?

Yes it looks really realistic and has various settings to make the ‘flames’ bigger or smaller.
The container that is filled with water doesnt have to be filled every day so i will get a few days use before refilling and then it only takes a minute to do.
I love decorating mine at xmas with a nice garland on top.
I think if you know you will use it, it is worth the money but have a look round to find the best deal as we first spotted it in B&Q and couldn't have got it at the price there x

Yep we have one and I love it, it makes our front room so cosy, we don't have a chimney and wanted to log burner style fire and optimyst was the best option.
