I have a rented house. During lockdown I changed the toilet seat. The screws where rusted and I couldn't unscrew the old one. A neighbour said to hacksaw it. So I did and it took bloody ages and was awkward to do. I did it from the top not underneath as I couldn't get the angle on it.
I badly scratched the toilet
So I bought some touch up paint but it's too white. I bought some touch up paint in cream to try to blend and darken it but it still looks crap!

Replacing the toilet is not an option.

Any one got any tips?

Also when I moved in a cleaned it all rather vigorously. There was rust on the screws at the back that got on my cloth and left small scratches on the cistern and sink too. Is there any good tips for touching up small scratches on toilets and sinks?
Thank you 🙏

Have you tried this?

In cases where the scratches are relatively minor, baking soda can be used to remove annoying porcelain sink scratches. Simply sprinkle baking soda over the length of the scratch, or cover the entire nick with a hefty dose of baking soda. From there, buff the scratches and nicks with a soft, damp cloth

I wouldn’t attempt the pumice stone one though!

Or see if this guy helps

DH made one scratch on our toilet removing our seat. I see it every day and it drives me nuts. I wouldn’t have painted it though. Can you remove the paint and try some other way to buff the scratches out?

This has good reviews

@Runningoutofnamestochange thank you for your reply😊
I will definitely try some of those

Is the scratch even visible when the seat is down? I think a small scratch would be preferable to that paint.

For future reference if there are problems you should contact the person you are renting from (or their agent) as most people would rather avoid these problems by having work done professionally.

Barkeepers friend.
Sorted out the scratches on the bottom of a toilet when my DH used a metal coat hanger to unblock the loo a bit too vigorously.
I agree with snowballs, as a landlord I would like to be told about issues

Yep! Live and learn 😬
I'll accept the damages if it comes to it
