Cost of Replacing Shower Tray

We have a cracked shower tray (80x120) and need to replace it. Have had a quote and it’s £1550 Shock( we live in north east). Whole bathroom only cost £3k 4 years ago.

I was thinking £200 shower tray, £380 labour (2days £180) £20 on small parts - so around £600 max £700.

Does anyone have any idea of whether my expectations are way off. We can’t afford £1550 so don’t see the point in getting more quotes if they are going to be similar.

If £1550 is the going rate, how easy is changing a shower tray for a DIY novice? Blush

Get more quotes!
Not sure on the cost- but does sound quite high. But it depends if the floor and walls are tiled. As removing it without damaging those may be tricky and it might be taking into account retiling those as well.

We needed a new shower tray and ended up with a completely new shower cubicle, new tiling and new floor. It is difficult to replace shower tray on its own. Oh, we started off just needing a new shower unit!

I needed similar and had 3 quotes ranging from £600 to £1600. And one plumber who said he didn't want the job as it was one of those hassle filled jobs so didn't want to quote! I think the £1600 thought the same so made a high, offputting quote!

We had the same. Couldn’t take out tray without retiling. £1500.

£90 a day! Not around here. Builders charge double that. Your labour costs are way out and you are not factoring in tiling - difficult to remove a shower tray without damaging tiles and shower surround/glass. These might need dismantling. If a shower tray has cracked - why!? Is it not installed properly? Levelling and redoing drainage might cost too. It sounds like a cheap job in the first place and that’s why it’s not lasted.

Paid £600 a few years ago, including new tray and a couple of rows of tiles. Looked like a complete pain to get the old one out.

Did get one higher quote at £1000
