Cost of new windows

I'm wondering about the cost of replacing windows. I appreciate there will be a huge scale but would love to hear some numbers.

My house is a 3 bed bungalow with a sunroom and I'm convinced I can feel a draught when I'm sitting near a window. The worst is in the sunroom.

The house is about 16 years old.

Are there other options to replacing the windows that could improve insulation?

Thermal lined curtains and/ or thermal blinds.
You could get the windows checked, maybe the draft is coming from poor fitting.

Worth seeing if you can get a grant towards the cost?

If you're sure the windows are the problem...

The cost of Windows varies enormously and there are a large number of rip-off merchants out there. Almost to a fault all the major players are vastly overpriced. There is a good reason there are so many people flogging windows and that because there are big bucks to be made.

A lot of these companies rely on people no really knowing what a window should cost. Forewarned is forearmed as they say.

Don't be too tempted to get extras like upgraded glass etc as this can be expensive and more often than not are a waste of money for most people.

You can do what I did - measure up a couple of your existing windows and then price them up on supply only websites. Of course, this doesn't include fitting but remember, it’s not rocket science to fit windows and a decent guy can replace and fit 4 or 5 windows in a day.

For instance, a 1200 * 1200 window with two openers is £213

Do the windows have vents in them? Many do, its something to do with building regs but I cant remember exactly. Is it an air brick or gaps in a wooden floor?
Branded upvc windows are extremely expensive but some of the non branded are inferior quality.
