How are you making the room safe after builders?

I know that lots of us have work going on at home.

Our work started today, how are you all keeping your houses Covid secure at the end of each day?

I’m wandering around with a 99% alcohol spray and am spraying everything! DH thinks that I’m mad. I think that I’m sensible.

What are you guys doing to protect yourselves?

Alcohol is flammable so just be careful.

DianaT1969 · 10/11/2020 23:23

I'd just keep the windows open OP.

Personally I would ventilate the area whilst they’re working and after, they keep away from you and you keep away from them. You could supply a packet of biscuits or something in a packet, not on a plate/touched. That’s it. No spray.

Stay away from them as much as possible, all windows open for half an hour, wipe handles and light switches with flash, that's it really.

That said everything is filthy so plenty of handwashing!

Whoooootaminute · 11/11/2020 07:27

Nothing much.

I always serve builders biscuits in a separate tupperware tub as they generally have mucky hands from working. I put mugs straight into dishwasher and wash my hands.

Thanks all, room is well ventilated with the back door and window open, will continue spraying once they leave.

Doubt the spray will do much.

It seems aerosol transmission is the issue rather than surfaces, so open windows and avoiding being crowded together really are the only answer.

Having had builders in our house since february I have given up with wiping etc. I just make sure I practice good hand hygeine and where possible keep areas ventilated.

EmmaStone · 11/11/2020 15:40

Surface contact is only an issue if you wipe your hands on the germs and then stick them in your mouth, or up your nose. If you're washing your hands frequently, it's much less of an issue. As a PP has said, it's the aerosol transmission that's more difficult, and for that, I'd be ensuring plenty of ventilation and keeping out of their way. IME, they tend to keep windows and doors open anyway, and there's no reason to be sharing spaces with them unless you want to be covered in dust!

Nothing... Various tradespeople have worn masks when visiting but disinfecting stuff they've touched? No I haven't done that.
