Conservatory help please!

Bit of background - my husband and I were originally going to move last year but unfortunately our circumstances changed. We have quite a small house at the moment and desperately need more space!

We have been given a quote for a lean to PVC conservatory with polycarbonate roofing that is within our budget, but I am concerned that the rain noise on the roof may be noisy, especially as our bedroom windows will be above it.

Has anyone recently had this sort of conservatory put in to their homes? If so how have you found the noise and is it worth the money spent on it?

Thank you in advance!

We have one in our rental house and it's not usable most of the year. It's either too hot or too cold and even a light rain sounds like thunder.

Yeah they are awful. We had a sun room and only sat in it for about two days out of a year, we pulled it down and got a proper extension put in instead. What are you planning to do in the conservatory?

We had one and the rain was extremely loud

I am getting mine refurbished. The roof is ridiculously loud when it rains and we have the whole too hot/too cold thing. It gets gappy.

We are getting a solid roof put on, reglazed and new external doors (basically rebuilt from the dwarf wall up).

We considered a full extension but for a few reasons (flow in the house, cost, what we want the room to feel like) this is our choice. It's not cheap so may be above budget - the warmroof type solid roof is about 5k on its own I think.

My mum has a tinted roof on hers which works really well but her garden doesn't catch the sun like mine does so it's lovely and temperate. It's a traditional wooden structure.

I would not go for a polycarbonate roof at all.
