So new kitchen is in but we’ve a 2month wait for flooring to be fitted. How do I best take care of the ply subfloor whilst keeping things clean and dealing with a toddler and weaning baby?? Confused

Don't get it wet Grin

Can you get some tarpaulin or plastic sheeting to put over it? Or see if anyone has any leftover carpet (maybe ask on a local Facebook page)?

What about hat sticky carpet protector roll like giant seltape?

you might be able to get a remnant of sheet vinyl flooring at a reasonable price. It's usually on the pavement leaning against the window of carpet shops. It will protect from spills, splashes, flung food. Put something in front of the sink and the cooker, even if it's only a mat.

Round pets' bowls is especially important because they splash water and food around.

You can get rigid plastic sheets of floor protector at builders merchants and some DIY shed, like a very thin version of the roofing sheets used on carports. It is ridged for anti-slip, you can cut it with kitchen shears and tape the pieces together. Ordinary plastic is a slip hazard.

Whatever you use, tape it down securely at doorways and joints.

You could also use floor paint, but it is quite expensive.

You can use old boxes completely unfolded and taped down. As it's just the ply base though I wouldn't worry about it too much

Thanks all!!!

good point about the boxes. Often done when fitting kitchens because you have more thick cardboad packaging than you know what do do with.
