Woking is one of those towns that is being developed a LOT. There's plenty of people whining about it but I see it as good for the town. One development that you'll be interested in is for the fottball club; after a long battle the developer has been told to do one after the proposal was laughed out by the the Inspector.
Kingfield itself is a good area, close to town centre and the leisure centre. Good schools nearby too.
Anything specific you need?

Thank you so much for a detailed reply! I personally liked Woking when we visited but, as you said, people complain about it a lot... just trying to understand why :) do you think it it a safe area to live with children? Many thanks x

Well I'm raising my two here and don't envisage any issues at all :) Great links by rail to London and by road A3, M3 etc so you can get anywhere else relatively fast too.
It's a very multicultural town which I love but others not so much. It seems there is a lot of people against development of any kind and they're the vocal ones but they ignore the basic fact that each town or area has a housing target to meet. Woking is simply being very bold about it.
A lot of complaining is down to 'oh it used to be such a nice town'; it didn't, it was a dump after decades of poor infrastructure and development choices! There are few town centre architecturally attractive buildings so I see no issues with development on a large scale. The other complaints tend to be around traffic which as anyone knows will be awful while building works goes on, it's temporary.
