Swedish sinks?

Hi, I'm planning a new kitchen and would like a wooden worktop but don't want to be worrying about it getting wet round sink. We went on holiday to Sweden and they had a stainless steel sink that went the full width of the worktop which was great. Think they're really common there but I can't find one in UK apart from this IKEA one www.ikea.com/se/sv/p/ammeran-infaelld-diskho-1-ho-rostfritt-stal-s59158164/
which is the right kind but I want 1.5 bowls plus a drainer. This site conturasteel.se/produktkategori/kok/heltackande/ has loads of them but only in Sweden. Don't understand why we don't have them here, makes so much sense! Has anyone got one or knows where I can get one in the UK?

Try looking for a catering sink? Such as in commercial kitchens. Look very similar in my experience.

Emmelina · 05/11/2020 22:25

It reminds me a little of what you’d find in a commercial kitchen. I won’t speculate at your budget for this and give some links but if you Google commercial inset sink you should find a few bits :)

Like these ?

That's an idea, could look at commercial ones.

Pickpick101 - I found that Olif site but they are all out of stock or discontinued? Strange.

I think that @PigletJohn has one of these.

yes, but I think it's discontinued now.

there was a similar one by a different brand (will see if I can find it)

rangemaster mezzo

I think there are some other rangemasters too

You can also get a catering sink made that way, but they tend to be larger than domestic sinks and not as shiny.

PigletJohn · 06/11/2020 19:59

I call it a sit-on sink

example

in my commercial premises we had this sort of thing. The stainless steel is rather dull and grey. Thick, durable and heavy. You need to measure in advance (or possibly build the cabinet to suit) as I think they are oversize. You usually have sinks and tables matching and assemble them to suit your needs. They are normally mounted on steel frames with stainless doors or drawers but I think you can buy them as single components.

I’m a bit late to this but if you are still
Looking these are a thing in the Netherlands too - and would be cheaper than buying from Sweden. I absolutely love the concept - although the Dutch are snobby and say it’s a thing in student houses/ social housing. If I redo a kitchen and the sink isn’t a focal point I’ll be putting one in

Getdowngetdown · 27/11/2020 21:01

I have a smeg stainless steel double sink with drainer which is marvellous

banivani · 27/11/2020 21:11

I live in Sweden and it’s an absolute mystery to me why these are not more popular. Easy to clean, hygienic, durable, burn proof. I asked a relative abroad who was doing up their kitchen if they wouldn’t go for this and they said it lowers the value of the house because the kitchen doesn’t look “homely”. People think it’s looks cold and clinical. People should cop on I think. Grin

If you find a 1.5 bowl version, with draining board, and the main sink is large enough to soak oven trays in, please let us know, OP! This is exactly what I'm after too.

N.B. Check out whether it's affordable to get one custom-made to your spec by a company that makes this stuff day-in, day-out. My very quick Google threw up a few companies, and it didn't seem like they'd charge huge prices.
