Dishwasher and utility room ?

We are just designing a new kitchen and looking at flooring options.

It's going to be in a space of approx 10.5 m x 5.5 m with one corner a utility room.

The dishwasher is currently in the kitchen in the new design

But we are looking at flooring options and think we will go for engineered or laminate wood, and last time we did the kitchen the washing machine was leaking and ruined the laminate which we couldn't afford to replace due to the amount needed so this time we are worried about buying new flooring and leaks and wondering whether we should put the dishwasher in the utility room or whether this is a stupid idea? The other advantage is the noise as it will be quieter and so less noisy in an open plan living space ?

Utility room will probably have vinyl or cheaper laminate.

Has anyone put there dishwasher in the utility ? Thanks

@TerribleCustomerCervix

How noisy is your dishwasher that you’re worried about the noise?

Our bog standard Smeg model is so quiet I constantly think it’s finished and open it mid cycle!

Having it in the utility would drive me nuts- I like to clean as I go when I’m cooking so running in between rooms needlessly would just piss me off.

Our even more bog standard Diplomat sounds like the engine of a 1980s bus and drowns everything out. I rue the day we got it working properly, after moving in.

Amtico spacia on the floor in the kitchen cleans up a dream if properly fitted. Water sits on top of it if anything spills. Neff dishwasher in there super quiet and it has a light that shines down onto the floor so you can see whether it's on or not. No way would I have a dishwasher in the utility - it needs to be by kitchen sink imho.

I would use lvt or tiles and have the dishwasher near the sink and crockery cupboards.

Prior to our kitchen refurb we had the dishwasher in the utility and it was a pain traipsing in and out with plates. It is now in central kitchen island and can be emptied directly into the drawers next to it or very nearby. We have engineered oak so very much hoping it doesn't spring a leak !

10.5m x 5.5 m is a huge kitchen. Definitely put it in the kitchen.

It would be a massive PITA for me. It would probably be easier to wash up than traipse it to the utility room and then back again.

Put LVT in the kitchen rather than laminate or engineered.

Also you can get alarms that detect water so you can pop this under the dishwasher and it will notify you if you have a leak. Amazon sell them.
