Sorry posting again, I’ve noticed what looks like end of pipe in the corner of one of the rooms, does it look like an old radiator pipe?
Looks a little odd sitting in the top corner of one of the bedrooms

Pipe?

how big is it? There is nothing in your pic to show scale.

What is in the room below that corner? And the room below that?

Have you got a hot water cylinder? What colour? Where is it?

You will have to look in the room or loft above.

if it is a loft, I expect it is a redundant pipe that used to be for a cold-water tank above, or a hot-water cyinder below. or it might have been a feed and expansion tank for an old boiler. There might be tanks and pipes in the loft that somebody couldn't be bothered to remove. It will be interesting to know what they are made of, and if they still have water in them.

@PigletJohn thank you for replying. The pipe is about 12cm in the top corner of one of the bedrooms, wall on left side doesn’t have anything and other is the wall with window and radiator. The house has a hot water cylinder but that’s at the other end of the hallway opposite side to bedroom, and the boiler is in the garage. There is a loft above, but we haven’t fully checked that out yet Blush and below the bedroom is the kitchen. The house was built in 2002 (not sure if that makes a difference).

I’ll take a look in the loft and see what I find Confused

Thank you Smile

what colour is the cylinder?

NotTodayMaybeTomorrow · 01/11/2020 19:02

@PigletJohn it’s white - off white colour.

OK, so it runs off the watermain (not from a loft tank)

When the house was built, it almost certainly had the older type of cylinder, and the pipe you have found was probably to fill it from the loft. Or possibly it was the supply pipe to fill the loft tank.

Which reinforces my belief that the pipe is redundant. It can probably be cut off and scrapped. but you need to look in the loft to verify.

You can get a tool called a Pipe Cutter which is easier and neater than a hacksaw.

Copper pipes are mostly 15mm or 22mm diameter. Ocasionally you'll find 28mm, usually on an old hot water cylinder or boiler.

@PigletJohn thank you so much for replying.
I will definitely take a look in the loft as soon as we can, but once again thank you so much! Smile
