Re-tiling bathroom floor

I've got a tiny bathroom which is in good condition, the floor is tiled with really small (about 5cm square) tiles which are not very nice.

The rest of the bathroom is in good nick, partly tiled with plain white tiles.

I was wondering if its possible (using a tiler rather than trying to do it myself) to lift up the old tiles (they are just grouted onto a plywood sub-floor) and re-tile the floor - without moving the sanitary ware to save money and disruption?

I want to use patterned tiles to make the room more interesting, the floor space is tiny, less than 2m square I would guess.
I assume I would have to source very thin tiles, the current ones are probably 3mm thick.

I know I could ask a tiler to come out and look, but I don't want to waste their time if its not possible - plus its not easy getting trades out for tiny jobs.

Photo attached, its a very boring bathroom!

Theres a loo behind the door, so its mostly nocks and crannies!

The current floor tiles are a cream colour, and starting to lift up in places.

The worry is if they are starting to lift up the floor might need some work.

Tbh it would be easier to remove the sink and wc, cutting around them is more disruptive than removing and putting back.

Most of the work is the cutting, so don’t think of it as a small job, it’s harder than a bigger bathroom. It will therefore be proportionally more expensive.

If you choose tiles which are too big that will also make it harder, as the cuts will be trickier.

Thanks Catherine, that makes sense.

I'm getting other building work done on the house at some point, including another bathroom, so I should probably wait and ask the builders to add this to their job list.

That sounds like a good idea.
