Morning...we are selling my Dads house and have been asked to provide an electrical certificate. He will not have had any such official document, can anyone advise how we go about getting one if we have to?

Phone a couple of electricians and get a price, preferably a recommendation by word of mouth

Just ask a qualified electrician to check the installation in the house.
Last one cost me £150 or so.
Be prepared for work to be done if the house is old.........
Good luck

A NICEIC electrician will have to come and do an inspection and report. Costs about £230 plus VAT in London. Usually takes 2 to 4 hours to do the inspection plus time to write the report.

When I sold my house few months ago, the buyer's solicitors provide a form that asked if you've an electrical certificate. I checked "No" because I didn't have one.

And that was the end of it. No one persuaded us to get one.

I'm buying a house without an electrical certificate because I'll be rewiring anyway. If your dad's house needs some work, the buyers might not be too bothered.

Thanks for all your responses, I don't think we will bother getting one.
