Do surveyors need access to the attic?

We have a mid-terraced house which is SSTC and the prospective purchasers have arranged to send a surveyor round (cash buyers, they don’t need a mortgage).

We have already 200 miles away and only left large items at our old house eg. Beds, sofa, stand alone white goods etc.

It’s just occurred to me that we have brought our large step stool to our new home. We used this from the landing to reach up to the ceiling and the slide-away attic cover to pull down the attached stepladder from the attic opening. The attic does have a single lightbulb, is insulated and there is a water tank up there.

Do surveyors normally go up into the attic? If they do, will I need to put another step stool on the landing or will they bring their own step stool or step ladder?

The house where we now live had an attic conversion with built in steps from the landing and our surveyor was able to go up there easily.

I'm guessing, for safety/legal reasons, they would use their own stepladder.

I could be wrong though!

They usually take their own.

Yes they will to assess the roof.
They will be equipped with a ladder as standard so don't worry.

They would - and would bring their own ladders if they knew there was an attic
