How much was your amazing kitchen?

DP says we'd need to spend over £20k to get a good kitchen, I think that we could get one for less. How much did you spend?

How big is your kitchen OP? Will you have top of the range appliances, marble tops and real wood for the floor or do normal kitchens cost this much nowadays?

swishswashy · 21/10/2020 20:56

10k from howdens with neff appliances and at least 16 units, a breakfast bar, spice pull out cupboards, pull out larders, pull out bin, integrated dishwasher and fridge freezer. Laminate worktops, matching upstands.

DH fitted it though so no labour costs. It was from their mid-range units.

Chickenkatsu · 21/10/2020 21:08

@Lolaloveslemonade 36 square meters, yes dp wants top of the range, or at least near the top.

@swishswashy no labour? That must have helped a lot

20k from Wickes, but included a rangemaster, all new appliances and granite work tops.

Chickenkatsu · 21/10/2020 21:12

I'm starting to think dp is probably right Confused

Op it depends on your definition of good

Chickenkatsu · 21/10/2020 21:17

@Bluntness100 something like what you have, I guess

m0therofdragons · 21/10/2020 21:17

We were quoted 16k. Currently saving up for it.

Grobagsforever · 21/10/2020 21:17

My fairly average Howdens kitchen is coming in at 13k plus fitting

Fastforwardtospring · 21/10/2020 21:18

Hacker kitchen from independent shop, 22k included Siemens appliances, boiling tap, waste disposal, Quartz work top, + fitting but that was by our builder and had loads of other work done to.

Bluntness100 · 21/10/2020 21:19

What’s the actual dimensions of your kitchen? 36 metres sq seems enormous?

Chickenkatsu · 21/10/2020 21:21

I think that means 36 sqm

Ikea units
graded stock appliances
separate worktops

I have 21 x 60 cm base units and the relevant wall units and appliances

total cost just under £7k including the professional fitter

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 21/10/2020 21:22

Our Wickes kitchen is big and lovely and was pretty much dead on 10k.

My friend spent double that with them and the only difference I'd see is that their doors are handleless and mine have handles.

Dinosauraddict · 21/10/2020 21:25

2 years ago, was quoted £28k and got it down to £17k. That includes quartz worktops and an island, some appliances were new (dishwasher and tumble dryer - both integrated, but kept old hob and washing machine). Our kitchen is large but that didn't include flooring/painting etc either.

HelpOrHindrance · 21/10/2020 21:26

mine end of last year was 12k with Neff appliances - 6 altogether

2k to fit but it was worth it. Get someone independent to buy it through their account and fit it. you will save a lot! Howdens double their fitting price - I know this for a fact

Ccarlyle8 · 21/10/2020 21:29

£15k magnet kitchen. Includes American fridge freezer, micro, wash machine and dishwasher, oven and hob. Just getting it out in now!

Bluntness100 · 21/10/2020 21:30

Isn’t it more? It’s about 42? I’m not good with sq metres, I was thinking that 35 sq metres was about 40 foot long 😂

Mines a bit longer and a bit narrower. It’s a rectangle, I do have a peninsula though. Which is massive and sits eight easy. Depends if you want that, price included electric rangemaster and extractor, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, cupboards, island, granite work tops and stand and fitting. Price was approx 20 k.

We then paid about 2 k for the decorating/tiling inc materials and another 500 for lights (lights over island).

We could have done it for much less though, it just depends on what you’re going for,

HelpOrHindrance · 21/10/2020 21:31

@Chickenkatsu

Its lovely and big! Not lots of cupboards though so may not be too expensive. Try Magnets rather than Howdens
Chickenkatsu · 21/10/2020 21:32

@HelpOrHindrance thanks that's good to know

@Ccarlyle8 American fridge freezers rock

Lazypuppy · 21/10/2020 21:33

We got ours from magnet for £7k. There is a massive range for cost depends which bits you want to go top range for.

PersonaNonGarter · 21/10/2020 21:34

Your DP is right.

alpinia · 21/10/2020 21:34

Depends totally on the brand to some extent. Top of the range for even a small kitchen will be way over 20k. Some quotes we received for a 6m x 5m kitchen were over 60k and that wasn't for anything particularly amazing. Anything of that size that isn't from a high street/DIY warehouse will be well over 20k.

dementedma · 21/10/2020 21:37

My friends are just forking out 40k for a new kitchen and it isnt even a big area! I dont earn that in a year!!!
Their choice I suppose, but such a lot of money for one room!

MagicoRomantico · 21/10/2020 21:40

10k for a tiny kitchen ten years ago. It was lovely, don't get me wrong, and included a bit of building work with a lintel adding. But the worktops were just laminate Shock
