Anyone have any experience of this? We are hoping to exchange later this week and vendors asking for a covid clause.

We avoided one in the end as we managed to move while everything was fairly good. But I believe when we discussed it, it was to allow for delays if one member / household of the chain had to self isolate due to COVID. Usually if you don't move out on completion day, you've broken your contract and can become financially liable. You can't move if you can't leave the house due to Covid. So that's where the COVID clause comes in.

The other option is simultaneous exchange and completion (doing both on the same day), but it sounds incredibly stressful.

I can’t really see a problem with a covid clause? I suppose people could take advantage of it to delay for some reason but overall, it’s no-ones fault if they are isolating for whatever reason be it contact or a positive test. Particularly if movers have children in schools. Better to protect yourselves?

Not suggesting there’s a problem. We are actually the ones with school children and most likely to run into problems. Sounds like it’s reasonable then.
