Would you put a note through the door?

Our house has gone on the market today.
We have been eyeing up a nearby property for weeks which has been on the market for a few months.
The estate agents won't let us go and see it until we have sold ours.
We would rather see it so if we like it then once we've sold ours we can move forward quickly. We are really really keen on it but obviously need to see it in person to know for sure. How much we liked it in person would influence what kind of offer we would accept on ours.
Our house is super sellable, all similar ones on our street have gone quickly recently.
We are in a tier 1 area.
Would you put a note through the door asking to see it? Or am I being a CFer? And if you would put a note through what would you say to not sound pushy?
Thanks

@Figgyboa yeah I do see that's a viewpoint which I guess I'm worried is how the seller will feel. I feel like they should do more to weed out the literal time wasters and people who aren't that interested from the people who really are interested. If someone is genuinely really interested in buying your house I think you should make an allowance.

At the end of the day, they want to sell and we are keen to buy (but can't say for sure until we've seen it) and we would be more likely to accept an offer on ours if we knew we definitely wanted to buy theirs. Yes there may be more proceedable buyers but then there may not be, or they may decide they don't like it when they see it then they end up with no one or waiting longer. Having buyers lined up ready to go as soon as they sell is surely better than having no one lined up and risking not selling?

@Chicchicchicchiclana the photos are awful and it's a period property so definitely need to get a feel for it in person. Based on walking by and the photos though I am pretty sure we would love it.

Our estate agents advised us to put the note through as he said the vendors may not be aware that they have interest that's being blocked by the EA. The EA weren't that convincing that it had come from the vendors not them. It seems to be a blanket rule that most local estate agents are following. I wouldn't be worried about going behind the agents back as my EA said it was normal to do, but more worried about pissing off the vendors.

Also @Chicchicchicchiclana their house has been up for months and they've dropped the price so I don't think they are in a massively strong position for selling

I would definitely put a note through.

You've gone via their EA who won't make your interest known, so why not take matters into your own hands?

I'd write a decent note, saying most of what you've said here, including that you had spoken to their EA.

Good luck with it all!

Our house is for sale and we have stated that only FTB, Investors, cash buyers and people on the market can view

We rang to view a house and were told you can only view if you've accepted an offer on your house

Each EA interprets the gov guidelines differently. There was one house we wanted to view and the EA will only allow you to view if you've sold. The house had been on the market since last year and was empty!

No harm in posting a note but don't get your hopes up as the seller may have stipulated certain requirements on viewing

I was in this position two months ago. Also very confident we'd get a quick offer. I didn't. The market is weird at the moment. If you don't have a strong offer on your house you're not in a position to proceed with buying another.

Mumbum2011 · 21/10/2020 19:37

If the house has been up for months then there's probably no real panic- the way you were talking I thought it was a new listing. I'd wait until you've at least had viewings on yours, especially if twice EA has said they're not taking viewings with people who are unproceedable. You could potentially annoy the EA and vendor.

SirCloudesley · 21/10/2020 20:42

It won't annoy the vendor - how could it ? You have nothing to lose from putting a note through the door. I did this on a Sunday and the seller of the house called me Monday morning. It's the estate agent blocking it that's all.
