Ashford, Kent (or anywhere else really)

Hi everyone,
We are looking to move from North London (tiny houses, high rent, high independent school fees,...).
We were recommended Spring Grove Primary School in Kent by someone. It looks good. And if we live in Ashford it will be great for our commute ( to kings cross/Warren Street). However we know nothing about the area. The online reviews don't seem nice. The house prices seem unbelievingly low though. Our budget is max 700k for a 3 bedroom place so we could somwhere else as well if it's a better area. But don't want to increase on the commute time. Will really appreciate your honest reviews on the place.
We are new to the country so haven't set a foot there.
Thanks.

Spring grove is absolutely lovely. Not sure what the poster above is referring to.
Check out the villages between Ashford and Canterbury. Truly idyllic. Everything you need for kids. Train service good. There aren’t many comparable places anywhere really. Lots of great primary schools and grammars plus some reasonable non selective state schools and independents.

Ashford was a designated growth town. Housing has increased, but the town centre is still a small market town. Its not bustling, but you might like that. You have three different train lines into London, but if you need King's X you'll have to go for the HS1. Wye is great (their state primary is also pretty good) and the grammar schools across Kent are brilliant. Personally, I'd happily move back to Ashford but would choose one of the surrounding villages going out towards Canterbury, Maidstone or Tenterden way. I find Romney Marsh a bit bleak but I know some people love that landscape.

Agree, Kent has very good state options.

I would definitely look more towards Canterbury than Ashford for Private Schools though. Our friends children are at St Edmunds, they said it is an absolutely excellent school.

Hello, I’m looking to get a mortgage for a house in Ashford, Kent. I’m new to this place so kindly let me know some reviews regarding Conningbrook lake houses.Does anyone live there and what’s their experience? Is it a good place to live without any housing issues n all?

Not heard great things about that development . People waiting for developers to go back and sort out problems in the house.
