Anybody else buying/selling in Lincs? In to week 3 of selling and feeling disheartened at the lack of viewings and seemingly slow market. We've priced to sell and not in a chain but I'm not sure if things are just a little slow in general in this area?

Whereabouts are you? I am selling in South Lincs. We had our sale fall through last week and have been quite busy with viewings this week, loads more than before the summer. We'll see if it's just the initial surge of being back on the market.

Try not to get disheartened yet, it's still early days.

We have just bought a house in Lincolnshire in a small village due to a relocation.

We had our offer accepted around 8 weeks ago. It was on the market a while (I think since march) and the previous sale had fallen through, it is such a beautiful house. We got lucky, I just don’t think there were many buyers in that area.

Although I have noticed more houses have sold on rightmove that we were looking at in that area over the last few weeks.

A good friend of mine is selling in Boston and has been on the market for a few months with very few viewers. Very disheartening.

I had a beautiful house in Derbyshire 8 years ago that took me 4 and a half years to sell. Very disheartening when you get offers of £200k less than it's ( optimistic) price.

But that wasn't the main problem. It was having to keep it in a pristine, washed, dusted and hoovered condition for all that time!

Anyway, good luck with your sale. I presume C-19 is affecting peoples decisions at present, but most of us forget quickly and move on at some point.

FairyAnn · 15/10/2020 07:25

Yep! House has been on the market for months (though had a break in viewings due to Covid) and viewings have only just started picking up again. Very disheartening

We're in Sleaford. It's the cheapest 4 bed in miles so I think I though it would get a bit more interest. I think because I've seen a house I'm interested in it feels a bit more urgent than at first haha! It was first on in August and sold really quickly but the buyer pulled out after 4 weeks when their mortgage fell through and it's all felt a bit more disheartening since then.

I sold in Lincolnshire in August and buying near you, it’s been slow going, still waiting on the mortgage!

This is the house if anyone wants a nosey...
I found this property on the Rightmove Android app and wanted you to see it: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-85267141.html
It's surrounded by lovely woodland and you step straight out on to beautifully kept gardens but not sure you can tell without knowing the area/visiting?

I looked at Greylees and then joined the Facebook group, gnomegate!

However the management fees and all the talk surrounding it put me off.

Thatswhat · 16/10/2020 10:33

I think it depends if you're in a house or flat etc with the management fees. Ours are £200 per annum and have stayed around there for the last 10 years. I think they're worth it to always have nicely maintained communal spaces, car parks etc, there's even an outdoor gym now too. The house we're looking to buy has fees around the same, I prefer it to know the areas around you are going to be nicely looked after.

That’s not too bad actually. I hope you sell, it’s priced well, I was looking at one for £185k (same layout) but ended up going for an old cottage in one of the villages.

Thatswhat · 16/10/2020 15:27

Thanks FAQ. Yes 185k is the going rate!

Hi all, I'm relocating to Lincolnshire and need advice on the area. We love binbrook, what other villages are similar? A shop or 2 and obviously a good pub. Schools not needed at moment.
