How much more to lay herringbone pattern?

I was wondering from a install perspective how much more a floor laid in a herringbone pattern was to install over normal patterns. I know the flooring costs more but wanted to get a feel of the whole cost.

Anyone have any experience?

Hi, this cost £300 to lay and all in all took him about 9 hours. We bought all of the materials ourselves he just fitted it.

This included having to take the door off to sand the bottom down, for the beading round the edges to be done and to lay the underlay.

My guy is very reasonably priced though and is a family friend so unsure what a total stranger would charge you. He's also qualified and has years of experience.

Room is about 3x3.6m

It definitely took longer because of the pattern and there was lots and lots of waste. I ordered 10% more than I'd measured for as recommended by the company but I still didn't have enough.

That looks lovely. I love the warmth and stretching nature of the colour and pattern.

Where did you buy your floor from @diningroomfloorlady ?

Ooh following, love that floor @diningroomfloorlady

It was online from direct wood flooring: https://www.directwoodflooring.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9YPhlZWs7AIVRbDtCh0QsQMnEAAYASAAEgIOQvD_BwE

If you type in herringbone in the search bit they have quite a few different colours.

Price was really good so I was worried it would be crap when it came but it's actually really good quality, the flooring guy even commented saying it was good and was shocked at the price we paid!

I really like it! Thanks allSmile

Another point is, he recommended that we take all the skirting boards off, lay the floor and refit new skirting but it made it far too expensive.

It's our first home and I've just gone back to uni so money is tight!

We went for white beading instead and it looks absolutely fine with it! You can barely see it. So glad we didn't spend the extra money.

Shouldn't be that much more expensive, it's simply another pattern once you get into it. The edges cause more labour which is where the cost is and also ups the materials required. Most floors estimate 10% wastage, herringbone is 15-20%. Better fitters get better results and material use though so worth considering that

We got tiles rather than wood (to go over underfloor heating) and cost per square metre to install was £35 vs £27.50 plus 10% extra in tiles.

Best get a couple of quotes.

@diningroomfloorlady also love the flooring

What colour is that ?

Also cheeky question but whereabouts are you ? I'm looking for the same someone to lay herringbone

Has anyone use the Travis Perkins herringbone flooring ?

Thanks
