When we bought 20 years ago it was like 80k max haha.

What is approx budget of a first time buyer these days?

I bought my first house in 2009 for £150k, a very standard semi, two and half bedrooms, one bathroom, lounge and kitchen. All perfectly liveable, didn't need anything doing to it. A typical FTB house round these parts.

I put in a new (very cheap) kitchen and bathroom and recarpeted the place. I sold it in 2019 for £250k and that was only because I wanted a quick sale, had I had more time I could have got £260k.

I laughed at the EA when he told me what I could get for it.

Our first house isn't really a typical FTB house though. It's big. And in a reasonably priced area

I was 28 when i first bought. Had saved an 80K deposit (living with my parents whilst working). Bought my flat in London Zone 6 for 300k. When i asked agents for flats at that price in the area a lot of them told me i'd be so lucky

Eldest daughter bought a 3 bed with her partner last year for 240k, son and his wife bought a 3 bed with his wife last year for 170k. Youngest daughter has just exchanged on 2 bed, on her own, for 167k, but she had a larger deposit (over 10%), all in different parts of the Midlands (Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Herefordshire).
