Refitting a kitchen - what colour?

I'm going to redo my kitchen towards the end of this year, early next year.

It's sizeable, but backs onto my north facing garden, so can be quite dark.

I can't quite decide what colour cupboards to go with. Sage green? White? A very, very light grey? Navy?

Worktops, flooring and tiles still all to be decided...

It's the first time I've got to decide this all on my own (first time properly living alone as an adult) and I'm a bit spoilt for choice!

I'm a bit worried about the current grey trend going out of fashion. And I have to renovate sympathetically to my victorian house... any ideas/inspiration?

I'm going to get some samples next week and see how the look.

I'm pretty set on shaker cupboards as I don't think gloss would be right in this style of house (although they are a dream to clean!)

I did mine last year, navy with white solid surface tops. I love it but I also love the sage and it was a really tough decision which one to go for!. My kitchen is weird because it doesn't have any direct access to the outside.

This is lovely, especially the lights.

@Nikhedonia aww thank you, it's a Victorian house so I was trying to keep it sympathetic to the original features.

Very nice! The tiled chimney breast is a masterstroke Smile

OP I think v pale grey would be lovely for you. Mid grey has gone past but pale grey is into the realm of off white which cannot ever be wrong. The 2nd photo you posted is gorgeous. If it hasn't been suggested already, Neptune website good for ideas.

Passthemustard, can i ask where your kitchen is from, love the tall corner cupboard. Which cupboard are people putting their boilers in when you do a kitchen refurb. I cant decide whether to squeeze it into kitchen or go into the loft

No, I haven't came across Neptune before. Have used benchmarx and howdens I the past. I'll check them out.

I'm hoping that a very light grey will be timeless, but this thread has reminded me that I am decorating for me! A mid grey isn't my taste so I wouldn't go with that.

@Flapjak it's from Wickes!

The kitchen itself is lovely and the design process was fab but I couldn't recommend their after sales customer service and the fitter they supplied was awful. But overall I'm happy with kitchen.

The tall cupboard houses this carousel thing which was my must have! My boiler is upstairs in a bedroom so I didn't have to worry about it.
@coldgraybrix - I want to paint my nee kitchen walls pale sage green - which one did you use please?
Dulux Mossy Stone. We tried several and that one went with the colour of our new units the best.

Thanks passthemustard, thats exactly what i need!! So sick of scrabbling around for things in backs of cuboards and that is really good use of the awkward corner!!

@tortillachipsanddips Hi, the chairs are from Habitat, called Jerry. I love them, very comfy. Habitat often do a 25% discount event and I got them during that event so got a good deal

I think a colour like the dove grey should be fine, because it will have a pinky tone that will warm it up. It also gives you the freedom to add colour in other ways, even just with pretty stuff on display on shelves etc.
