Anyone lived in a property with a NE garden? We have found a v nice house ticking all our boxes but garden is smallish and NE facing so concerned about not having somewhere to sit out in the sun.

I have an East facing and get the sun until around 3pm in the summer. It’s quite a short garden and quite a tall house.

You’ll have sun in the garden in the mornings and if it’s long enough, you might get the evening sun too. Do you know how long the garden is? Are there big trees or neighbours that might keep it in the shade?

Thanks for the replies. Good to know might get morning sun. It’s 45 foot long so not a big garden but maybe just big enough to have some space from the house. No big trees around so that’s a plus

Mine is NE ish. My garden about 45' also. I get the sun in the morning until about 2 on the patio next to the house, then it moves down the garden and the larmst bit of sun leaves the end of the garden around 5pm.

We bought a dead north facing garden last year. It's fairly long though so does get the sun - in the dead of winter it was only on the back wall :) but in summer only the 3m closest to the house was shady. That's paved anyway so made no difference to the plants.

TBF there is also a small but nice front garden which faces south so we actually do have some sunny outdoor space in winter - but basically the house is gorgeous and the direction the back garden faces is no deal-breaker for me!

SIL has a NE facing garden, house is very tall as its raised compared to the garden. It's on the garden in the morning and starts to go into the shade early afternoon, I went over last weekend and we clung onto the last corner of the sun until about 5pm

Mine in NE and about 50ft long. We get sun by the house in the morning then chase it down the garden. That's fine but then the sun leaves our garden by late afternoon so it can be a lovely day out then you come home and can't sit in the sun with an early evening drink. Especially in late summer. Nice and shady during the heatwave though.
