Paint a keter garden box?

Bought one of those plastic keter boxes for the bins but it is ugly. It's beige.

Do you know if you can paint these types of outdoor plastic boxes please?

you can using non-drip oil paint and no primer or undercoat.

clean it very well before painting. First with nylon brush and household detergent, rinsed off well, then with white spirit and a green nylon scourer, which will also flat off the shine, rubbed off with clean cotton rag.

just one flowing coat with a soft brush. Work fast and keep a wet edge. You can do one side or panel at a time. Leave the parts that show most to last, so you get some practice before doing the front and top.

Will easily last 20 years.

thin paint is better for this job than thick, because thin paint is more flexible, and plastic is liable to flex.

Same method as for plastic drainpipes, meter boxes etc

Have not tried it with a water based paint but I suspect it would not adhere so well.

Great tip, thank you, I've been searching for a green one. Why are they beige I wonder?

Thanks for this! Really appreciate it.

I got the box in instalments on amazon so no choice about colour and not an essential item so couldn't justify £250 upfront but it really sticks out against the fence!

Going to try to paint it brow to camouflage!

Yep - I know they have other colours but the beige is really stark
