If you're from Cheshire, where abouts?

we are relocating to Cheshire and with the pandemic we haven't had an opportunity to drive up and explore areas (neither of us are from Cheshire) so trying to do as much research as possible.

Just want to know what areas are nice for family life so interested to know if you live in cheshire then where abouts and what do you like about it? And maybe what you don't!

What's your budget first of all? As it's a big county are you wanting to East or west?

granadagirl · 02/10/2020 23:57

Budget, children ? Age ?
Rural, town
Transport ?

Northwich is good. Lots if new developments going on.

Knutsford is a bit posher - read wine bars and fancy restaurants.

I've heard good things about Nantwich.

Cheshire's great, lots of nice countryside, not too far from the Peak District, lakes, Blackpool illuminations? 😀

Giant ice cream farm, more if a theme park type thing too

Nantwich is nice with good schools.

There are lovely villages such as Kelsall, Ashton Hayes, Tattenhall, Christleton, Tarvin (rural and quaint, great schools and a short journey to Chester) close community with lots of village activities. You'd need to drive to most places.

Closer to the city of Chester are Upton, Hoole, Bache, Newton, Vicars Cross (excellent bus routes and a more urban suburb feel, some within walking distance if the city with great facilities such as good libraries, lovely parks, good dentists and doctors, and some shops hairdressers etc.) and the wonderful Chester zoo is in Upton.

Areas I'd avoid would be Blacon, some parts of Lache and some areas in Ellesmereport, also parts of Winsford such as Wharton.

Where do you need to be for work? Do you have school aged children? What is your budget? Cheshire is actually quite a large county with a broad range of options.

augustusglupe · 05/10/2020 00:09

What is your budget? House prices vary a lot from West to East.
Have you had any chance to have a look around?

Bluesheep8 · 05/10/2020 19:35

Why can't you go and have a look?

Sandbach. Born & bred. I love my town

Lioncar · 06/10/2020 08:07

We would be looking for a detached family home for 350 or under. Toddler aged children but want to make sure schools are good as dont plan on moving again.

Want somewhere small enough to feel like a community but somewhere big enough for a high street. But still rural/countryside

Work will be based in sandbach

Irelands Croft Close, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11

This is on the estate for Elworth Hall Primary, it's a lovely little school. And walking distance from town and secondary schools.

wineandcheeseplease · 06/10/2020 09:14

Nantwich for sure

PapercraftNinja · 06/10/2020 09:17

Sandbach and Northwich are great, and you’ll definitely get more for your money house wise.

Nantwich is nice
