Boilers! ? Which one please

Two lovely plumbers. Two quotes. Money is near enough same.

One swears Worcester Bosch
The other Ideal.

So whilst I don't have actual oomph and whoosh stuff numbers for each boiler, I felt assured both believe their boiler to be exactly what the house needs. (It's going in the loft).

Do Mumsnetters have a preferred boiler? And please oh wise one, what does @pigletjohn think?

(Been slightly in luff with PJ since at least 2012) so even if this thread is quiet, do at least pop along to remind him how fab he is.

We have the Worcester Greenstar one and it's very good. I would also recommend (if you don't have already) having one of those doo dads fitted that has magnets and traps all the gunk circulating round in your pipes (can't recall what the name is). They'll clean it out every year when the boiler gets serviced. We also had a power flush done before fitting the new boiler as our previous system was v v old.

We have an Ideal boiler with a 12 year warranty as recommended by our plumber. Still very happy with our choice 5 years in.

Well, I see noone has recommended our piece of shit intergas boiler. What a surprise.

I cannot wait to get a normal fucking boiler than anyone can service/fix. I am lead to believe that Worcester Bosch is that boiler. Therefore, my next boiler will be a Worcs. B boiler.

Just had a WB installed with a Hive heating control. I love it! Sat on the sofa and put the heating on last night instead of walking upstairs to 'boost'

Had problem with Worcester boiler about half a year after we got it, which was caused by a faulty installation. Got fed up of dealing with plumber and called Worcester Bosch helpline one day just after lunch. Unprompted they said it would be fixed and that they could set up an appointment there and then for the following morning at 9 AM. Was mildly skeptical they would turn up given that we live in the middle of nowhere, but at the designated time they did indeed have two polite and professional people on the doorstep. They swapped out a part free of charge, gave me a couple of tips on operation, and left. All done in 20 minutes. Boiler has worked perfectly ever since. Was impressed.

We've had an Ideal with their app for nearly a year. Really like it and no problems and amazing water pressure!

My opposite neighbour had an Ideal Vogue fitted a few years back. I asked them recently their opinion as I might need a new boiler soon. They are very happy with it.

Vaillant in the kitchen....still working as well as the day it was installed, 31 years ago.

I had the Worcester Bosch Greenstar in my previous home, couple of years old, was quick to heat the radiators. Found it better than the Vaillant I now have which is slower.

I had an ideal boiler in my old house, never had any problems. Quiet boiler with simple controls.
Had a new Worcester bosch boiler fitted in my new house, and I have had Worcester bosch out for faults 3 times in 5 years. And on one of these calls outs, I had to wait 8 days without heating and not water. I can't speak for ideals customer service as I never had to use their call out / warranty but my choice would be ideal, after such as disappointing Worcester experience.

We have a Potterton controlled by Hive. Keeps our rambling ancient house toasty warm.

Fitted in the early 1970's. Before I was born.

Ifailed · 04/10/2020 12:41

I have an ideal Logic+, came with an 11 year guarantee. One thing I do stick to is a proper annual service. The gasman who installed it does this, and he takes at least an hour, and proudly hands me a printout with lots of figures I pretend to understand. Compare that to a British Gas service in a previous property that took about 5 minutes.
