How long from offer to completion

I understand that it varies massively but I don't know anyone who has completed since lockdown or whether things are up and running again. We have had an offer accepted on an empty house and we have sold. I have instructed a solicitor and survey will be next week. I am wondering whether we might get in by Christmas?!

Our offer was accepted on 3rd Sep and we are getting the keys on the 22nd Oct - so if all goes well it will be 7 weeks for us. We aren’t in a chain and neither are the sellers so I guess that’s why its been quite quick.

We had our offer accepted in the first week of August. No chain, no mortgage, and apparently still waiting for searches....

We had our offer accepted on 3 July and completed yesterday - so that's what, 13 weeks? 12 between offer and exchange.

Week 9 and counting. Now EA say might not happen until new year. Bottom of chain has been very slow.

Im also wondering this. We are first time buyers and the house we are buying is empty as vendors inherited another house and have already moved out. So it’s literally our purchase on the chain.
We have 2 AIPs that we got a few weeks ago so hopefully nothing has changed. 15% deposit that is being gifted from inheritance (from MIL which is from her mums estate - probate was granted earlier in the year so 6 month wait period is nearly up)
Our good friend who is a surveyor is going to do our survey for us so don’t need to wait for that.
Have started the ball rolling with a solicitor.

I’m hoping for sometime in January- near the end? Is that too hopeful?
