Recessed lights. Do they use current lightholes?

I'd like to pop recessed lights in my downstairs toilet. Usual 2m x 1m size cloakroom. I guess it'll only need two lights.

Current light is in the middle. Would the electricians aim to use that and just cut one other hole in the ceiling over the sink or would they want to cut holes at each end and leave an old hole in the middle. And if so should they make good the old hole or is that a plasterer job?

Hope I've explained that boring question clearly 🤔.

I think it's up to you to decide on the position of your lights! If they can use the current hole for one of the lights it will be cheaper but it sounds like it would make the lighting in the room unbalanced.

Most electricians will do a rough "making good" job with bonding plaster and you would need to finish it off to a higher standard, either DIY or get a plasterer in.
