What colour & style of kitchen?

We're at the planning stage of a ground floor extension. Planning to extend 4m out the back and into the garage to make a utility, w/c and office/spare bedroom.

House is standard 1980s so no features and garden faces north.

We don't know what style or colour kitchen to go with.

We like colour and currently have a B&Q Cooke & Lewis kitchen with aubergine high gloss doors at the bottom and cream on top.

Just been to B&Q and very uninspired and unsure which way to turn. Had a look on DIY Kitchens and liked the choice of colour but not sure on style of door either?

What do you think?

Appreciate any feedback on plans as still playing with them.

That’s quite a big kitchen to have a lot of colour. I think you should go with lighter coloured wall units, then colour in the island.Have you seen Kitchen Stori range? I love it and love the wide range of colours you can get.

Also where is your fridge in that layout? Finding it hard to tell.

For a more boxy modern house, I think the kitchens below look funky:

Someone linked on here the other day and it looks like a great way of achieving a more interesting looking kitchen than the standard high street stuff.

Hi, Thanks for response.

Fridge is left by door (American fridge/freezer). Going for pocket doors to get rid of the swing/open door.

I have a kitchen from DIY, I have a real wood shaker style. I've had it 2 years and I'm still thrilled with it, excellent service too.

www.plykea.com/gallery look really fun.

We're hoping to re-use a lot of our kitchen cupboards so just get new doors- saw they are designed for Ikea doors and screw holes

I don't know about Plykea specifically but a lot of companies that make replacement doors will also make them for other sizes as well. Naked Kitchens (as an example) will do standard Ikea sizes or a bespoke size that you submit. They also do a range of different handles and colours including some bolder ones if you liked the purple one in B&Q.

And we were really pleased with quality and price.
