Hi, we have put our heating on for the first time yesterday and one radiator isn’t warming up. I have checked that the pin isn’t stuck down, made sure the valve the other end is open and checked for no air locks ( water cane out straight away) it’s a double radiator do tried this in both areas. Is there anything else I can check ?
It’s worth noting British Gas has installed new tank and boiler this year ..will go back to them if need be. Any help appreciated

turn off ALL the other radiators. Does the cold one now warm up?

We had this after a boiler replacement. Turned out to be a blockage in the pipe.

Yes!! It’s warming up! Thank you. Do I wait for it to heat then turn everything else back on?
I’m so grateful for your help thank you

The circulating water takes the path of least resistance, meaning it will flow through (usually) the closest radiators and ignore more distant ones. The way to fix this is to tighten down the flow through all the radiators, so that it flows through them all at about the same rate.

I previously wrote a "how to do it" guide which I will find, and attach the link. It is not at all difficult, but it takes time. For a quick start, you can turn down the hottest ones in the warmest rooms.

The guide will tell you about "lockshield valves" where you do the adjustment and then never touch again. This is at the opposite end of the radiator from you valve you normally use.

You are a legend. I will save the link when you have posted it, thank you. I am now sitting in the warm drinking tea and eating biscuits 😊.
