Anyone have any idea how high the chimney is supposed to be...its on an extension and is gutter height...spewing out smoke into my daughters bedroom which is level with the top of it.

No idea but don't under any circumstances use it. Smoke from a wood burner is toxic!

Yes, we are next door and we are higher than them hence it being level with my daughters bedroom, hes been chopping up a delivery of pallets and using old decking from his garden...my whole house stunk yesterday and I'm a severe asthmatic...this is a new stove it was installed over lockdown

Was it a diy job or HETAS registered engineer installation? (Although I very much doubt the latter.). Do you have Co2 monitors? Call your Council asap, ask him for HETAS certification. Isn’t decking treated with something nasty, making it toxic if burned?
Treat this matter as urgent and I don’t think you should let your daughter sleep in that room if it’s taking in smoke/fumes. I don’t wish to cause panic but this is not just unpleasant it’s potentially very, very dangerous.

We are the other way round so higher property

Our chimney is 2 metres from the roof exit. Almost as high as our roof.

I would contact the council, see if it was installed properly and fully guaranteed etc.

Decking is dangerous and will block the flue with sticky residue and may cause a chimney fire. It will also render any guarantee useless.

100% This^. Apparently the newest ones still produce the equivalent particulate pollution equivalent to 18 diesel cars. And that burning approved wood. They’re absolutely terrible for local air pollution.

Thanks for all the suggestions...dont think the bloke does anything 'right....also has his gas boiler flue coming out through a chip board shed on the side of the house, in front of a window (his window not mine thankfully)

You need to report t environmental health, or contact the council for advice.

Decking timber is treated with chemicals so should never be burned like this.

Years ago when these were all the rage and my rich friends were installing these 'eco friendly' burners, I just could not get my head around the fact they are burning wood which can't be carbon neutral. All the condemnation of the burning of rainforests, and we are sticking trees in bloody wood burners in suburban homes. I actually think nuclear energy is preferable if we can't get enough from solar and wind.

Being proved right is no help to me either as my NDN has one of the fuckers outside our landing window and another one in their shoffice.
