Any damp experts about?

Our roof flashings were damaged last year in a storm and some water penetrated immediately below. This was repaired but some patches of discolouration seem to come and go on the affected internal walls. DH has spoken to the roofer who says this is normal for drying out and to be patient as it takes a while. Does this sound right?

Thanks PigletJohn. Silver. Discoloration patches are on the walls immediately underneath and at right angles. Fraid I can't post photos as distinctive decor may be outing...

Silver means it is flashband. Not lead flashing. He is not a roofer, he is a bodger.

Ask around for a local roofer by personal recommendation from someone you know and trust (they may use a specialist lead-worker, so ask if they can recommend one, not all roofers are skilled in that work).

Really appreciate the advice PigletJohn - have been using firm for 20 years plus, but younger workman came out last time.
