Help! Has anyone got a deep soaking bath?

Looking for opinions really as I have 24 hours to decide how to fit out my small (& only) bathroom.
Does it feel too small not being able to stretch out and luxuriate?
I'd be really grateful for any replies

Following as I was planning to get one of these once I have saved up for it.

RegularTourist · 17/09/2020 13:48

I've used one in a holiday house... was odd not being able to stretch out.

wuickquestion · 17/09/2020 17:15

What is it?

I have a water saving bath as live in anew build, so looks standard size, but half the depth. It's cold as an adult, as the water doesn't cover you, but great for little kids as they are higher up and you don't have to stretch down.

I never have a bath, but the kids do.. sorry not much help.

A Japanese sit bath?

I want one!!

WeeDangerousSpike · 17/09/2020 17:22

Following because I want one as I like to soak in the bath, but am currently so fat that the water doesn't cover me. The front half of my torso is completely out of the water, which just makes it a miserable experience. I'd rather be sat up and covered, than stretched out and half of me being freezing.

Dilbertian · 17/09/2020 17:23

I don't have one, but I've used them. I loved them. It is odd not to stretch out, but it is still very relaxing as you are completely supported by water up to your shoulders. Warm, too, with no damp bits sticking up above the water.

I've only used deep baths with a built-in seat (the base of the bath was contorted to form the seat). I can't see it being as relaxing sitting on a flat base with knees tucked up, but, again, the water supports you, so it could be.

We do! An Omnitub. It did feel a little strange at first but I absolutely love it and would get one again! It’s like being hugged by the water as far up as your neck with your whole body submerged. Bliss!

ThatLibraryMiss · 17/09/2020 18:06

I had one in the en suite and liked it. There was a shower in the en suite too so the bath was just for soaking not cleaning. Couple of considerations: you wouldn't be able to lean over enough to bath a baby or child in it, so not good for a house bathroom, and it's the same weight as a regular bath but over less floor area so make sure the floor can support it.

Didn't expect any replies so thank you all, it's the not being able to stretch out that's bothering me.
And the weight in my bathroom.
Thank you!

Omnitub? Yeah and I hate it.

I have the second smallest one and hate that the sides are straight. I really hate it. Would not get again :( and I thought I would love it. Plus £600+ for a bath?!?

Mamsnetnewcastle · 18/09/2020 00:00

If you have a small bathroom, get it and put a shower over the top.

PigletJohn · 18/09/2020 00:42

Yes, a Carronite.

They have quite a range of baths in numerous sizes, including ones to fit old bathrooms that were built to fit obsolete Imperal sizes (in inches)

A big bath benefits from a big cylinder, to fill it in reasonable time, with single British-designs of tap.

awishes · 18/09/2020 19:08

@pigletjohn
How strange I have just looked at a 1200x700 Carronite in a catalogue!
I now need to see if I could fit in a 760x769 shower.........
Thank you everyone, if anyone can advise on small shower enclosure or alternative I will be sorted! Thank you very much.

@ThatLibraryMiss
No children to consider now, I can see that would be an issue. Thank you.

The heavyweight Carronite reinforced baths are very good quality. They also do reinforced matching side panels, that are very durable.

They are fairly expensive and very heavy.

@Mamsnetnewcastle
Exactly the one I was looking at. Is it really that bad?
