Bathroom renovation supplies

So we have the bathroom being renovated in under a month an I need to buy all the fittings !

Thinking of going for a black and white traditional/1930s theme in keeping with the house. So mainly white metro tiles, maybe a line of black metro tiles at the top, patterned black and white vinyl, chrome taps, dark grey or black vanity unit. Maybe a glass wall light or two. Dimmable LED downlighters. More storage.

I am bamboozled by all of the online suppliers but will need to shop for this almost exclusively online.

I've heard of tile mountain and discovered Victoria plum... any recommendations for quality/price??

Trying to do the lot under £6k - half of that is labour and basic materials.

Pics for ideas..
TIA!

We used Drench & Lusso. Tiles we got locally & got a great deal - it was good to see finish/quality on these
Good luck 😉

Trouble is with the cheap ones they just don’t last. Go cheap if you’re looking at developing and moving but avoid if it’s a long term property.

@lovelyupnorth what counts as cheap - do you have any tips on where to spend and where to save?
Was thinking white /black metro tiles can be got cheaply, ditto vinyl floor, but spend more on the vanity sink unit, taps and sanitary ware?
It is a long term home and we don't intend to do this again any time soon as it's so disruptive !

@Simonutti72 thanks I will check them out. Any items in particular you'd recommend?

@TiddleTaddleTat

We found with Victoria plumb it all looks good but the taps started to trust and the fittings the chrome came off. The plumber had to do a load of work to sort the toilet to fix. Etc.

Found the stuff we got form a local builders merchants with bath showroom was much better and not much more expensive.

Just a word of warning that I'm still waiting on taps I ordered from Drench on 9th July :( They seem to have been BADLY affected by Covid in their supply chain. I was told they were in stock when I ordered! Have had multiple promised delivery dates since and now I've been told 21st September... We have had to go elsewhere but it's been a stressful waste of time.

If I were you I'd go local for tiles (good to view in person) and also visit a local bathroom store if you can for taps etc. Walk out with what you need in your hands if you can!

On another note, our fitters have experienced shortages with getting hold of plaster etc. They think it's going to be worse after Brexit! So may be worth cracking on if you can find good people available!!

Screwfix are good for baths, basins and taps, lights etc, plus thy have user reviews of their products.
Don't think they do tiles though, but I would prefer to see the tiles in "the flesh" to be honest.

TiddleTaddleTat · 05/09/2020 14:11

@Mutunus @WoolyMammoth55 Thanks, I agree always best to see in the flesh but I have some health issues at the moment (post covid) meaning it's very hard to get out. There's a local bathroom company recommended by the fitter - he said easy bathrooms were awful - so I'll see if we can get there for the bigger items.
Tile wise surely metro white and black are pretty failsafe? Hopefully. I've had so many tile samples over the years and now finally ready to bite the bullet and we are in a rush!
