Is this a stupid idea? Tiling hallway and fireplace hearth

My house is tiny. I've drawn a diagram, the room is 4x3m approximately.

The front door opens into the living room, but there is a small nook there. I think there was a second door at some point.

We will be having new floors laid and hopefully get a reclaimed fireplace. For the hearth I was thinking of putting some tiles down but then also maybe using the same tiles in the entry square, rather than carrying on with the wooden floor?

What do you think? Is that a stupid idea or could it look nice? My rationale was that you would have an entryway for dirty/wet shoes which could easily be wiped clean.

And of course I forgot to attach my excellent drawing!

The tiles would go in the green and pink dotted areas.

Tiling is a much more practical option so I’d to for it by the front door.

tiles by the front door are great. easy to keep clean in wet weather.
look for non slip tiles.

Tiles v practical. Wooden flooring can be exceptionally slippery if wet.

I make a space in front of the door for a coir mat instead. It would be inset in the floor so still a level surface. That way people can wipe their feet clean on the way in. Tiles can be very slippery and wouldn’t actually help clean the shoes.

Magicstar is right a Large mat well (width of the doorway) would be ideal.

Feet can be wiped on the mat before stepping onto the wooden floor whereas tiles would be slippery.
