Buying through Doorsteps

We are bidding on a house that is for sale on Doorsteps. Last week we submitted a cheeky bid which was rejected, so we increased our bid and again it was rejected. We are prepared to go higher on, but want some questions answered by the vendor and want a second viewing.

Here's where the problem/question comes, Doorsteps are terrible at getting back to us, and haven't given us any times we could go and view again. And then yesterday the house was taken down from Rightmove/Zoopla. So I have two questions

  1. Does the property coming off of Rightmove/Zoopla mean it is under offer?
  1. Does anyone know how Doorsteps works? My parter and I are considering submitted a slightly increased bid via the website with a note to the vendor about how we want to bid more but Doorsteps are being awful. Will the vendor see this?

Thanks in advance for any/all help!

Sounds like it’s gone/under offer.

I should add, the property is still on the Doorsteps site, to add to the confusion.

I sold through doorsteps last year.
I can't remember if they took it down from rightmove straight away or left it as sold STC for a couple of days. It's strange that its still on their website.

How did you arrange the first viewing?

From the rightmove advert, there was an option to contact doorsteps. As sellers, I got messages/viewing requests through a message portal that I could respond to myself. I could see feedback and offers made.
Once we received an offer, doorsteps called me to see what I wanted to do and then renegotiated with the buyers. I was able to see an amended offer.
It might depend on what package they chose, there are different levels of support.

It might be worth chasing up to arrange a second viewing, I would phone doorsteps directly and say you're having trouble with the online booking. They have a central office rather than local and I think that causes issues sometimes.

I hope that this helps. Good luck Smile

I sold through Doorsteps
The offer was made through the portal which I had sight off immediately.
I accepted on the portal
Doorsteps then phoned to congratulate me on my sale and I never had communication with them again!
The house went SSTC that day on rightmove
The sale completed six months later ( covid held things up)
All communication was between me and buyers as well as the solicitors.
It cost me £250 to sell a house I sold for £400,000
