I want it. I need it.

The price is a little crazy but I'm sold!

Talk me out of (or into!) it

Is the cube essential or can you get away with drinking the standard cold water coming from the taps?

Following because I want one too but the price seems crazy for a tap!

I have one. I love the pull out bit for cleaning the sink and filling awkwardly shaped items that don't fit well in the sink. (My watering can, for example..)

And the boiling water, oh it's amazing. We don't drink much tea here so I wasn't really sure how much we would use it but we do drink a lot of coffee... even more now! And we have small kids so we cook a lot of pasta/broccoli/dippy eggs etc so most of all we definitely notice and value having the cooking time significantly reduced.

The downside is that it is noisy and a bit spitty so if you hold a mug under it you might get a drop of splashback. The kids don't like it and won't use it because they're slightly afraid of it (this is absolutely fine with me, I'm much happier that they don't!).

I have one. The Quooker Flex is very pricey compared with competitors but it’s the only one that has everything all in one - I don’t think any other company does a flex hose and boiling water combo? - and it’s the best looking IMO. If we’d not had the budget I would probably have gone for a normal flex tap and then a separate boiling water tap.

We don’t have the filtered water add on as we have a fridge with a filtered water dispenser.

Agree with PhilipJennings about all the pros and cons. Very happy we got it.

PhilipJennings · 27/08/2020 14:18

Also I recommend the filter if your water is in anyway hard. (Mine is). My normal cold water from the tap is a bit limey, but in my case only the boiling water is filtered and I don't have a filter on the "normal" tap water.

But now I have no scum on a cup of tea/coffee or clinging to my teapot; I'm only using the boiled water for that.

It does look significantly cheaper to go for a normal flex tap and a separate boiling water tap (I've been eyeing up the Quettle) but it does look so sleek having just one tap.

We had a Franke Omni previously and the Quooker is so much better. We drink lots of tea and having the water ready and no kettle to boil is fabulous. The water is aerated to reduce the risk of burns so does appear to spit. Just hold the container ( mug/saucepan) right up to it and no problem. We use it to disinfect chopping boards with a little washing up liquid. Using loads less water than a sink full. There is a safety feature in that the boiling water will cut out if you pull the hose out. We wouldn’t be without ours.

I don't like these. Bought a house with one and it was noisy and I didn't like taste of my tea. It had a new filter. I turned it off and use my kettle

minipie · 27/08/2020 19:23

They are noisy but so is a powerful kettle when it hits the final few seconds...

PhilipJennings · 27/08/2020 20:11

...and a few seconds is all it takes!

I don't miss the kettle at all.
