Give me your kitchen worktop opinions!

I’m doing up a house to sell - won’t be living in it. I’m really torn about whether to go with much more expensive acrylic worktops or cheapo laminate in the kitchen. If it was my house I wouldn’t want laminate but do you think it will materially affect how quickly I sell the house/how much it sells for if the worktops are laminate or acrylic? I don’t want to waste money unnecessarily.

Thanks!

What is the value of the house, if at the lower end, I would just put laminate.

Some 22mm square edge laminate looks really smart and may be a decent compromise?

Depends how expensive the house is tbh, I’ve lived in houses with lovely kitchens that had laminate work tops, it’s not put me off, but there were on the lower end of the market (under £250k). If I was buying a £300k+ house that didn’t need renovating then I would expect a better kitchen.

You said it yourself If it was my house I wouldn’t want laminate
Why do you think a kitchen that most people would want to rip out will be a major selling point?

But.... the kitchen isn’t likely to be exactly what buyer wants regardless of which worktop. And people are aware that you can replace worktops without redoing the whole kitchen.
If the house is expensive compared to size then a better worktop might be a good idea. IE a £300k house with 5 beds put in a laminate, a £300k 1-bed flat, put in stone.

We don’t know the price of the house, it could be a cheap 2 up 2 down or a large country house, so hard to give an opinion

I got £300K 1-bed flat with laminate worktop. I bought a new build so laminate was installed by the developer. Quite a few of my neighbours in the building have sold their flats with the same worktops and I have never heard/read that kitchen worktop affected the price of the property.
Even if you put stone new owners might want a different colour etc. so might replace it if they have money. IE, I would put a good quality laminate in a neutral colour.
