What's in your kitchen cupboards?

We hope to be going from a tiny kitchen (4 lower + 4 upper cupboards + 4 drawers + a low bookcase) to a mahoosive kitchen with loads of cupboards. But although it will be a joy to have room for all my extra bits in boxes in the shed, I can't help feeling I will end up with loads of empty cupboards! Maybe there's something I've forgotten...

How big is your kitchen, in terms of cupboards/drawers? And do you keep anything in there apart from cooking stuff and cleaning stuff? Any tips on the best use of space/organisation?

I have a smallish kitchen. If I had more cupboards I’d indulge my prepper side and would do fewer bigger shops and buy loadsa tins and dried food! Oo and store it all in lovely tidy containers rather than squashed in packets.

Good idea! I might be buying lots of baskets and storage tins in a matching colour!

I'd probably get more cupboard foods, craft drawer, birthday/Christmas stuff, paperwork, diy stuff, pet cupboard

I have a larder cupboard (tall one) and then another tall cupboard for my boiler, washing basket and recycling bins, then 5 wall mounted, 6 low level (3 contain dishwasher, tumbler and wash mach) cupboards and 14 drawers. Its the drawers i love the most, i bought drawer organisers and everything has a place, we no longer have the drawer with all the junk, even the junk is organised! You will love it, I have everything in baskets and lots of organiser things from lakeland - enjoy!

We’ve got a big kitchen just because the house is big and not because we need it. The stuff in the cupboards includes toys, fertilisers for pot plants some paperwork and about 50l of mineral water Grin

I went from a kitchen with very limited storage to one with loads (8 under counter, 6 drawers and 9 quite tall wall cupboards, two bookshelves plus a large pantry).

When we moved in, I wondered how I would ever fill them. But it’s surprising how full they now are! I basically find that I have space for everything I need and more, so I have one large corner cupboard of vases and plant pots, for example. I also have lots of serving plates and bowls, more than I need, but I have the space, so why not. Also lots of Pyrex, stoneware etc, again probably more than I need, but I have space for it so I hang onto it.

I also keep things in the pantry that other people may store elsewhere eg I have a large freezer and all the recycling is in large tubs in there. I also have a prepper style amount of dried food and tins!

I’ve basically filled the space I have.

I also keep a cupboard for craft and stationery etc for the DC so that it is out of the way and it is easily reachable when they want to be in the kitchen at the same time as me.

Ooh, some good ideas here which I hadn't thought of - thanks! I like the idea of keeping some plant care stuff in the kitchen.

Your stuff will expand to fill the space available... On the plus side, when we got Covid as lockdown started, we had enough food for two months without even having to get imaginative.
