HELP! No water from hot taps

Suddenly, I’ve no water from my hot water taps.
Hoping @PigletJohn or someone else knowledgeable will answer.

I’ve had a Google and I think it could be an air lock in the pipes. A suggested cure is linking the blocked tap to a functioning cold tap with a garden hose, so the cold water penetrates & releases the air lock.

I’ve not got a hose, but Screwfix sell them, and I’d also need two connectors to fix the hose to the tap, but what type/name? I could perhaps cut the hose to a practical size?

Do you think this might work? Any other ideas or advice?

I’ve spent weeks trying to find a roofer to do some work for me, just had that completed, and was so relieved, now this, honestly I’m at my wit’s end.

Just came on to give my sympathies. No hot water in our taps either here (heating works though, thanks for checking that fully DH ).

Thank god for local siblings who have a) good showers and b) cold rose to share after.

Hope it gets sorted soon OP.

@PigletJohn Always a legend Grin

On Amazon I've spotted a Cost Wise "Garden tap to hose reel connection kit" for £6:99 with a connector at each end which looks as though it will do the job.
Unfortunately, the trickling water didn't make any progress.

post a link please. the one I found looks like it fits a tap with a snap-on connector on the spout, which your bathroom taps will not have. Look for a connector that has a rubber socket, plus a metal band that can be tightened to grip.

the trickling water can take an hour or more....

you need one for the hot tap and one for the cold.

Will be useful to wash your car or water your tomatoes on other occasions

Oh, the Cost Wise connectors don’t look like the one with the key. They seem to have an outer plastic jacket that screws to tighten. I’ll look again.
I didn’t give the trickling that long. I’ll have another go at that tomorrow.

Yay!! Congratulations Wine

I know what a nightmare it is to have house problems, especially with pipes. I'll add this 'fix' to my mental list.

PigletJohn · 10/08/2020 17:05

OOI, how long did the "trickle" take?

AdaColeman · 10/08/2020 17:43

It took about 40 minutes Piglet, which from what you had said must be about average, so all good there!
I hadn't got around to ordering the hose and fitments, so that's good too. Those clamps with keys that you pointed out looked very familiar.
I could be remembering having them for the washing machine before it was plumbed in, so I'll keep a look out for them around the house and put them to one side if I find them, just in case!

Major thunderstorms here, so I got that roof fixed just in time! Wine Wine
