Hob placement, kitchen island or wall facing

Hi all, We are renovating the kitchen and adding a kitchen extension. I'm in two minds whether to put the Cooker/ hob (gas) on the island/peninsula or the wall side. I like the idea of having the hob on the island so I can face the family living & dining area.

Till date I have always had kitchen with hob facing the wall hence always have faced opposite to my family and that has been a problem.

But I'm wondering about the practicality aspects such as smell/ odor ( we do asian cooking spices, curries etc); extractor fan; Under floor heating challenges (if any).

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks v much.

I would expect you to give your room dimensions (or for a good company to measure and actually look at the room places fo do this free if charge)n you tell them what you definitely do want idle wine fridge, two sinks, steam oven etc as extras. Designers should work through what would be appropriate for the space, accommodating required appliances, and giving you appropriate work space. If you are going to a shop and telling them what you wantcl and they are just waiting it down they arwntcrwally designers. You need to see some decent people and be open to anything they might propose.
From your plan you have yoo much window/bifold yo be really practical it makes fitting furniture in difficult and as you are already finding the idea of having big doors is already taking away ftomthe massively important issue of having the most effective kitchen you can have which you will use all day every day.
Look at it this way. What would your dream kitchen living area be like? Then can you squeeze a pair of french windows in realistically having a really well functioning kitchen is far more important than having glass doors which don't get opened as a full wall very often and do prevent the placement of other freestanding furniture. I would suggest going down in size with the doors.
