I'm so stressed. I found a mushroom growing in our bathroom the other day and then another one in my sons bedroom a day or so later. His bedroom is next to the bathroom. We also recently discovered some mould on the chimney breast below the bathroom in our kitchen. My husband thinks it's caused by broken water seals and that's fixable. I'm just stressed that with dampness so bad it's grown mushrooms that we have a bigger problem than we realized and that we need to rip out the whole bathroom to remedy. In addition I think we have a separate issue in the kitchen that we knew about when we bought it. We installed new air bricks and sorted a broken gutter but we still have a terrible musty smell in there. I know we need to improve ventilation and air the house etc. I guess I'm just stressed that there's tons of damage and mold and fungus in our floors and walls that we can't see. Do we need to pay out for a damp survey? We had one done when we bought the property which identified the issues in the kitchen that we fixed except it recommend a damp proof course on our back wall which we haven't done - would mean ripping out the kitchen and also have been told that these damp proof course are a load of bollocks and not necessary. Don't know what to do and just so stressed.
