Hi everyone,
I found a really nice place to rent in Hyde, close to Hyde Park
(SK14 4JS), and it's 10 min walking from Flowery Field Station.

Can you guys give me some advice about this area?
Is it safe?
Is it a nice area to live?
Would you feel safe to do this 10 min walk from the station at night time?

Thanks!

Where are you currently based? Do you see this as a long term or short term move? Do you have children or plan to have any?

Sorry if these Qs sound intrusive! Long story short, I'd think very very carefully about it.

I lived round the corner from there for 15 yrs, SK144JU. I only moved out of the area two months ago, but it was prompted by my sadness at watching the town on the downward slide.

The park is lovely and a total bonus if you have children or plan to. Flowery Field primary across the road is good too, and has forest school sessions in the park.

The postcode is brilliant in terms of transport links (into Mcr in 12 mins on train at Flowery Field). Would never, ever use the cut through at train station that takes you on to Lodge Lane at night though - very shady characters on the passage and feels unsafe.

From a crime point of view, I never had my car or house broken into and there was never any bother on the road particularly, but there have been incidents in the park over the last few years of people being attacked in the park (one woman last year at 4pm).

If it's a long term move, you can definitely do better prospects-wise. Many local facilities and shops have shut down and there's evidence of drug issues about (laughing gas cannisters on side streets and the cut through to station).

What made you choose that location? Is it close to where you work? Can try to advise of better areas for your money. Xx

Prob should clarify - when I say park is lovely, I mean it's scenic and pretty and seems OK in day time etc, but does seem to change once sun goes down. I personally never had any issues in the 15yrs I was there but there were isolated incidents over the years.

Hi,
Thanks for helping!
I am in Heaton Chapel now, don't have children and its gonna be only me and my aunt. We are planning to stay around 2 years there.

It's close to her work and we find a really nice place there. Actually, we already did the application and they already accept us. So, all I can do now is to follow your advice about the night time!
